🧟♀️ Dominican Halloween
In recent years, a Anglo-Saxon tradition known as “Halloween” has been adopted in the Dominican Republic. Due to the significant influence of Dominicans in the United States and the process of globalization, this celebration has become evident during the last months of each October. Many people dislike this festivity, considering it a pagan celebration that does not align with the Christian values upheld by society.
On the other hand, another group of people sees it more as a commercial season to organize costume parties or to offer a thematic menu in restaurants. There are even places that offer visits to pumpkin farms for people to take photos and embrace the autumn season.

🍭 Trick or Treat
The tradition of children going from house to house, asking for candy or playing a trick, still doesn’t have a strong impact on the culture. This might be due to safety concerns and the fact that not everyone embraces this celebration. However, in some international schools, activities related to this festivity take place.
What are your thoughts on this Dominican Halloween celebration?
Do you believe Dominicans should adopt this tradition?
